Florence Gospel Fellowship

You see them enter, all these international students of the universities and colleges of Florence. On the door you see written, “Florence Gospel Fellowship.”

Your curiosity piqued, you poke your head through the doorway just to take a look and find young men and women singing in English, some standing with their arms outstretched, others sitting with eyes closed, while still others have clasped hands together.
You step inside and feel the welcoming atmosphere wrapping around you like a warm blanket, finding yourself trying to follow along and even join in with the heart-warming gospel music.

Then you hear that they are telling their “life stories,” sharing what God has done in their lives recently that truly changed them. It’s true. These are those same international students you see walking to school every other day of the week. They travel thousands of kilometers to study abroad for six months in our city, wanting to learn about our rich culture, history and traditions.

But, through their own lives, they encourage us to rediscover the roots of our faith - the faith that has inspired so many artistic masterpieces which have made not just our city but our entire nation famous around the world.

We at Florence Gospel Fellowship have a motto that want to share with you:

Each week, at FGFellowship we experience God’s life-motivating presence through praise, worship, practical Bible teaching, authentic relationships, and opportunities of service.

At FGFellowship, everyone is welcome to come as you are. When you come, you can expect to be greeted at the door with a warm and friendly smile. Throughout the service, you will enjoy contemporary gospel music that can make you both shout for joy and shed a few tears.

After each service you will feel encouraged, challenged, and best of all knowing how to put into practice what God has revealed to us through His Word.

OUR PURPOSE

Jesus himself had Statements of Purpose for His earthly mission.

As a Purpose Oriented Gospel Fellowship, we intend to fulfil God’s calling for us in the
city of Florence and to the nations.

Hi, my name is Jessi Eaves and I am a student at Syracuse University
studying in Florence for the summer. I was at the Academy today to
see the David and saw the Christian Bookstore and wandered inside
and saw your flyer in the door. When in NY I go to Campus Crusade
for Christ at Syracuse and attend a nondenomination church on the
weekends. I have been in Florence for 2 weeks now and have been
pretty homesick and definitely missing Christian Fellowship. It was a
complete answer to my prayers to see your sign, definitely a huge
encouragement. I am definitely interested in stopping by while I am in
Florence. Thanks so much in advance!

Dear Florence Gospel Fellowship,
Imagine my amazement when I googled "evangelical church Florence"
and you were the first on the list. An answer to prayer.
I will be traveling to Italy in March with my children on a field
trip, and Florence will occupy a week of our visit. We expect to
celebrate Easter in Florence. Although we are hoping to attend some
Italian-speaking churches, we will be thrilled to meet and visit with
you mid-March.
We are missionaries in Mozambique and are looking forward to a
European respite from Africa. Celebrating with you will surely be a
highlight. Thanks for the excellent directions on your website.

Hello! I am an american student who is spending a
year in Florence. I spent last semester desperately
searching for a church family, a sense of fellowship
and a place of comfort in this beautiful city and had
no such luck. I learned a lot about myself and God
taught me a lot about discipline and independent
study, but i still knew i needed a community. I
stumbled upon your blog and am praying that your
fellowship is still meeting. I returned to America
for christmas and I am leaving on monday for Florence,
praying that you are still there… Hannah
